The School of Marketing Weekly Roundup

1 secret to creating digital products 🤫

Published about 1 year ago • 2 min read

It’s story time.

Let me set the scene: The year was 2020 and everyone was in quarantine. It was a nice Sunday afternoon at home with the fam.

My kids were busy either watching a movie or hanging out or napping. My husband was mowing the lawn, I think 😂

I spent one hour creating a digital product.

Yup, one hour. I don’t remember what I did the rest of this Sunday, but for one hour, I worked on a product to create passive income.

It was a product for photographers, and I priced it at $39.

Fast forward to now, where I’ve sold nearly 300 units of that one product and made over $11k. Obviously, there have been many other digital products created since so I've made a little more than $11k in 3 years 😂

I’m not trying to sound like a pushy influencer saying “you can make it happen, too!!!” but honestly, you can find similar success with your own digital product.

The key to making true passive income is to create something that makes life easier for your customer. Something that makes their job quicker or their business better.

Find a gap in the market and fill it with your unique product. It’ll make it so much easier for your people to say “Heck yes, I want that!” and buy it.

Now, if you’re wondering whether passive income is really passive, or wanna hear about a business I’ve noticed on Instagram that probably isn’t passive…you should tune in to Episode 5 of The School of Marketing Podcast.

I know you know...I'll tell you again.

Serious question though - do you still post/send Tweets or are they calling it something else? Back to business - Threads - I posted a fun Two Truths and a Lie on Threads and thought...

Michael Scott said it best, "Sometimes I'll start a sentence and I don't even know where it's going. I just hope I find it along the way." I'll tell you what I do know though - that people get really weird about an eclipse, as if we didn't just see one in the U.S. in 2017. And as if it doesn't literally happen all the time, just not...
